Drinking Water Options

The water that comes out of our taps is known as drinking water, fresh water, or potable water. Sources vary, but typically come from surface water, such as reservoirs, lakes and rivers, as well as ground water found in aquifers. However, in drought years there is a greater need to look towards alternatives as reservoirs and aquifers are pumped dry. The two main alternatives are achieved either by treating salt water known as desalination or by treating waste water through advanced purification systems. There is only a finite amount of water in this world with a small percentage of it being fresh water. As shortages of drinking water become more and more frequent not only here but around the world, there is a need to look towards alternate sources to supplement shortages.
