This map shows three purple pipelines in Silicon Valley that stem from wastewater treatment plants in Palo Alto, Sunnyvale and San Jose. Purple pipe carries recycled water that can be used for commercial, industrial and institutional use, sustainable irrigation, and as a way of recharging groundwater aquifers. On the map you will see half-mile buffer zones around the pipelines showing on average where purple pipe is available to businesses and organizations. You can contact your retailer to find out if access to recycled water is possible for your building. Future plans exist to expand the network in Silicon Valley to further meet needs as we face water shortages.
